History of the AHG Wackenhut
For over 60 years, the name Wackenhut stands for solid work and service around the vehicle. Join us on a journey into the beginnings and the future of AHG-Wackenhut.
1948
On the 1st September Ernst Wackenhut gets a contract for the former Wackenhut Gebr oHG from the Daimler-Benz AG. From now on there will be not only manufactured superstructures in Altensteig, but also cars and trucks Mercedes-Benz will distributed and repaired.
1953
The manufactory in Altensteig used for the production gets soon too small; it is also not located centrally for the Mercedes-representation. The company acquires outside the city Nagold corresponding base areas and creates a new building and moves in 1954 from Altensteig to Nagold. The company is now called Fahrzeughaus Gebr. Wackenhut oHG.

1958
In this year the Daimler-Benz AG bought the Auto-Union, Wackenhut also received the distribution of this brand, and then it was vehicles with the name DKW.
1967
Distribution and service for Mercedes-Benz and Auto-Union are outsourced from the production areas of Gebr. Wackenhut GmbH, Karosserie- und Fahrzeugfabrik, as the company trades meanwhile. For the manufacturing of trailers a production hall gets rebuilt and an administration building attached.

1968
After completing his studies Ernst-Jürgen Wackenhut begins to work for the company in June 1968 and he is responsible for the wholesale care of the Karosserie- und Fahrzeugfabrik.
1970
Ernst-Jürgen Wackenhut becomes CEO of Daimler-Benz representative in the company Gebr Wackenhut GmbH, what triggers generational conflicts.
1972
Despite differing views of shareholders the automobile trading company Wackenhut oHG, representatives of Daimler-Benz AG and traders of Auto-Union, gets founded. In the same year in Herrenberg in Schäferlinde will be established a branch, exclusively for the Daimler-Benz vehicles. With this step the Mercedes-representation becomes independent from the Gebr. Wackenhut GmbH.
1975
The automobile trading company Wackenhut oHG acquires in Iselshausen-Nagold the former veneer stock of the company Kilb and rebuilds it to a used car hall.
1978
Ernst-Jürgen Wackenhut acquires the Mercedes-Benz representation from the Wackenhut company network.

1983
The location Nagold Iselshausen gets rebuilt and expanded, a modern sales center for new and used cars is created.

1988
The main operation in Nagold is restored at great expense, a modern customer and delivery center now offer customers a better service. There are high investments for the environment.
1991
In the Hertz-Strasse 7 in Herrenberg-Gültstein a new branch is created, the property in Schäferlinde 20 is sold.

1998
The company is now a GmbH & Co. KG, simultaneously there are negotiations about the acquisition of distribution rights with Möhrle in Freudenstadt. These will be purchased on the 1st January 1999 with the consent of DaimlerChrysler AG.

2000
The AHG Wackenhut GmbH & Co. KG is planning its new strategic direction. The current location should be maintained because of its location.
2001
From November, Gebr. Wackenhut GmbHs old factory zurückgebaut, a complete ground redevelopment follows.
2002
The construction of a new Mercedes Carshop begins in August in the Altensteiger Street 47. During the construction a smart center will be integrated in the new exhibition room.
2003
With the takeover of Autohaus Ziefle in Dornstetten-Hallwangen to 1st January 2003, the company will now distribute also Chrysler and Jeep brands. In August 2003 the AHG Wackenhut GmbH & Co. KG gets a further CEO, Ernst-Jürgen Wackenhut jun., who has finished his studies. On 3rd October the AHG Wackenhut moves from the Altensteiger Street in the new building. The old location was rebuilt to create a used cars center.

2004
In June 2004, the new used center with Chrysler / Jeep showroom was opened.
2006
A contract for sales and service was signed for Skoda models. From the 1st June we start with the complete scope of services for our customers and interested people. The Showroom and Salesroom will be in the used cars center, the Chrysler / Jeep / Dodge exhibition will move in the exhibition room in the main building. The Skoda service will be integrated in the existing repair and assembling shop.

2008 - Volkswagen is back in Nagold
A contract for Volkswagen is signed. From 01.01.2008, we offer all our customers and interested people services all around the VW products.

2008 - Mitsubishi-Fuso
For the brand Mitsubishi-Fuso Truck, a sales and service agreement is signed. From 01.06.2008 we round our Truck offer with this brand of Daimler AG.
